Jan 27, 2022 Grooming Report

This week I have been up on the mountain checking trail conditions.  As you know, it rained about an inch last Thursday into Friday, the trails are hard and still smooth, but they do have a small amount of granular snow on the surface of the trails.  Snow park entrances look good as do highway crossings. We are still getting above freezing temperatures during the day and below freezing at night. Snow depth has decreased from a little over 5 feet at the grooming shed to about 3 1/2 feet now.  We are not going to groom this week, as the trails are in good shape, and we need new snow to improve on what we have to work with. I did notice bare spots showing up on south facing slopes already, like it does in the spring.  The lower trail towards the Chalet is still good, but the section by the Corwin place by the highway is deteriorating, but passable.  We really need new snow.  The weather is supposed to change this week-end into next week, but not predicting a lot of new snow.  We will see what we get.

Watch out for icy conditions out there, whether on the trail or off.

Thanks
