Grooming report December 27, 2019

We went up to groom early today to try to smooth up some of the trails between Alpine and Morning Creek.  The snow is so hard and set up from the warm weather a week ago that we can’t even cut the surface of it without digging in and working up dirt as the snow on the trail around Tollgate is very thin.  We did the best we could, but may have made it worse by working up big clods of snow.  We need new snow REALLY BAD on top of the base we have.  The good news is, Jubilee Road is in good shape, as I rode it yesterday.  Skyline road is bumpy but hard.  Timothy Loop is excellent out towards Lookout Mountain and back 6413.  I rode the day before Christmas up Balloon Tree and it is really good as well as 31 road towards Ruckle.  There is not enough snow to make moguls in these wide roads.  From Spout to Woodland, still very thin on snow, dirt showing through, so waiting for a big dump of snow.  It snowed about an inch today while we were up there, not enough to make any difference.  We did open gates on Elk Trail and 6415.  We still need to open gates going to Andies Prairie from Woodland and possibly Gordon Creek. Watch out for rocks and stumps, as we did work up a few rocks grooming to the Alpine this morning and hit a stump headed towards Morning Creek. We will try again after we get a foot of snow……..
