December TTF Club Update

Hi snowmobile and winter sport enthusiasts,

Our first general TTF Club meeting for the season will be on Saturday, December 1st at 6pm.  It will be a time to get together, visit, have fun and talk about upcoming events that will shape our 2018-2019 snow season.  Our board meeting begins at 5pm for a closed-door session.  If you are on the board, please be there.

Discussion Topics are as follows.

1). Including Side x Sides and Snow bikes in our club. As we get older many of us want to enjoy the beauty of our mountain and play in the snow. Snowmobiling is no longer the only option. Side x Sides with tracks are a great and fun alternative.  Many of the younger crowd are gravitating toward snow bikes. This may take amending our by-laws to accomplish this and we want our club members to have a say in the matter.

2). At our November board meeting a group of 5 board members including Brandon Christensen our President and Dewayne Harvill our Parliamentarian volunteered to update our TTF Club bylaws to bring them up to date and better reflect our current operating procedures.

3). Weekly activities and rides could include snowmobiles, tracked side x sides and snow bikes if any are present.  We would like to have rides ranging from aggressive “Back Country” rides and “Family Friendly” rides that make a stop at one of the warming shelters for a cup of hot Joe.  To accomplish this we need volunteers that are willing to lead the rides. You don’t have to be an expert to lead rides. Individuality and showing the group your favorite area is what makes the ride fun.  A couple of away trips are in the making and we plan to discuss them at the meeting.

4). We would like to show our support of the Alpine Outpost by having them either cater or dine in after a couple of our meetings and would like our members input.

5). Please plan to bring your favorite “Potluck” dish to the December 1st meeting.

Just a reminder if you haven’t paid your club dues please do so.  Thank you

Grooming Report – Jess Thompson, Grooming Chairman

As we approach the December 1 starting date, hopefully everyone remembers we need 18 inches minimum of snow for us to begin grooming.  We need this much snow or more to cover the rocks and stumps and other debris that is on the trails so we don’t damage the equipment.

I have been doing last minute preparations at the groomer shed this last month, so everything will be ready.  I have changed out the bulbs in the lower shop with LED to hopefully prevent a power surcharge when we are there working with all the lights on and the air compressor and heater on.  It cost me $90 surcharge for one day last spring for a spike in electrical use.

Special thanks to Larry Randall, John Mandersheid and Tony Glover for putting logs at the Woodland Crossing and Spout Springs to help prevent the wash out problems that we encountered on low snowfall years as well as warmer temperature melting snow creating marshes in these spots.  We will see how this works this year as they are predicting an El Nino winter with warm temperatures and less snowfall.

THINK SNOW!!
