Updated Grooming Report for Dec. 22

I was on the mountain yesterday to inspect trails after reports of water on the roads/trails after 2 inches of rain at the snowtel sites.  There is water at 204/Jubilee Rd underneath the snow, which makes the snow very slushy.  Side by sides have been stuck there, but it looks like snowmobiles are getting across.  I walked across it without a problem.  We have lost half of our snow at the groomer shed, there is only about 10 inches-a foot left.  The snow is very slushy and wet as it was 44 degrees yesterday at the shed.  There is water backed up from the highway across Ten Eyke Meadow, so the crossing there is slushy with deep water.  I also went up to Spout, and it is holding up well.  There are two spots where water is showing, but snowmobiles can get around those areas.  There is dirt showing through from Spout through the trees as the snow has melted away.  Woodland crossing looks fine, the log bridge is doing its job.  Expect to see water holes in all low lying areas, so be careful.  Grooming is on hold right now even though cold temperatures have returned with a little new snow, it will take several days for that slush and water to refreeze so we can run heavy groomers across without getting stuck.  No significant snow is in the forecast, we need snow to fill in these water holes after they freeze.

Merry Christmas.
