Feb 5, 2022, Grooming Report

This week we waited until the end of the week to groom as we were anticipating new snow on top of the hard pack/ice .  We have groomed out to both shelters, Balloon Tree, Gordon Creek, in and out of snow parks, Elk Trail, Skyline, Jubilee Lake Road, Powerline, Coyote Loop, McIntyre loop, to the store and back twice.  We had about 6-8 inches of new snow, not as much as we wanted but enough to fill the small moguls.  The trails were still in good shape because they were so hard.  We did not groom up the back side of Baldy because of a huge tree that you have seen on the website that fell across the trail.  It has a splintered stump with a lot of pressure on it, so we are trying to figure out how to safely remove it. Most of the tree is up on the bank.   I did cut out the limbs so snowmobiles can pass under it.  The trail around the point on Baldy is in good shape and double groomed this week.  We did not groom down on the Chalet/Shumway loop as there was only about an inch of new snow, and the trail was in good shape except by Corwin’s house where it is getting narrow along the highway.  I was really hoping for more snow down there.

Due to the rain towards the end of January, we were shut down for over a week. We had other challenges like the highway being closed. One of our drivers had his pick up damaged by hitting a deer on the way home. We still got trails groomed.

Here are the stats for what we did in January.

405 miles grooming

 77 hours spent grooming

450 gallons of fuel burned

20 hours of maintenance on CATS

32 trees removed from the trails

724 miles driven to/from the mountain

18 hours spent driving to/from the mountain.

Thanks to our groomer drivers for getting through the challenges of this last month and for being flexible with their time.
